Do I need experience to participate?
No, there are no previous certification or experience required, as this course is made for people who want to start a career on Passive Fire Protection; or for those who are already working on the area, but need to gain expertise and skills on Passive Fire Protection installation, inspection and quality, and maintenance.
Topics covered include:
Types of fires and fire protection, health and safety considerations, essential documents, pre-cleaning and surface preparation requirements, factors that affect PFP application, common application defects, active fire protection, regulations and certifications, mixing and ration check, thin film intumescent coating, thick film intumescent coating, vermiculite based cementitious coating, twist and bend test, wet and dried film thickness, metallic and non-metallic reinforcement, pinning, quality assurance and quality control, reporting and record keeping, applicable codes and standards, inspections and quality control instruments, corrosion under fireproofing and so forth.
This course takes place in a specialized classroom (Trainings & Exam).
4 days (3 days of training, followed by a 4th-day exam).
